Lava Hot Springs, 2020

I decided to redesign a web concept for a small business in Idaho called “Lava Hot Springs”. This is a small spring based water park in the mountains with river rafting and camping. I went there a few times as a kid and loved it! Their current website is a little clunky & hard to use. My design uses blue for the water park & orange for the name lava. My website also has lots of pictures for viewers to admire the park and graphic icons for fun for the kids. I wanted to design the website with families in mind & set up to be very simple to use, research and purchase. This website has a total of six pages, each are displayed below in their own section with images.

Created in Invision Studio

Lava Hot Springs, Home -

The home page shows a cute graphic map as the hero image to get views in an adventurous attitude to view the different events at the park & services. Each graphic you can hover over to tell you what it is & then click on it to take you to the page with more information.

Lava Hot Springs, Tickets -

On the tickets page I really wanted the pictures of the park to draw people in. Each image is unique to Lava Hot Springs & someone’s experience there. Ticket purchases & info. are super easy to find & add to the cart.

Lava Hot Springs, Things To Do -

On this page each option has a drop down tab that tells you more information about the adventure and an easy way to book it. I used the little icons to give character to the tab & use images again to force viewers to see how gorgeous this place is.

Lava Hot Springs, Places To Stay -

This page is convenient for guests to allow them to choose where they would like to stay from the same website & uses the same drop down tab that the ‘Things to do’ page also uses to add to cart and view more infomation.

Lava Hot Springs, Information -

This page answers many questions viewers will be asking and also is listed on the sites navigation tool at the top of the page. It has parking information, history of the park, contract, & directions that bring back in the fun graphics and has options to save for travel or locations without service.

Lava Hot Springs, Checkout -

The checkout system was also designed to be very simple and visually show the customer their purchases with easy ways to remove & add them. The Calendar is used for easy booking & the check at the bottom is for signing a safety waiver. I wanted to make sure users could nicely view their cart and see their total.

Castaway Restaurant and Bar, 2020

Castaway is a fun tropical themed restaurant with a Polynesian menu and exciting tiki bar, perfect for family, dates, and parties. Sadly, it doesn’t exist, for a web design project I created a website for an imaginary restaurant and bar. It has a menu, about, reservation, review, and location information. I designed and tested it in XD and used many other Polynesian recipes as inspiration for the design and menu.

American Psychos, 2020

American Psychos is a website prototype I also designed for a web design project. We were told to design a website with information about a significant point or event in history. I figured I could do some interesting research on America’s serial killers throughout history. I decided to do the five most gruesome and infamous murders. I designed the website to be eerie and make the viewers feel anxious, like they are being watched. Each page has a short biography, the state(s) they hunted in, a list of their poor victims, an image significant to the killer, and a picture of the individual. This website has a total of six pages, each are displayed below in their own section with images.

Created in Adobe XD, Illustrator, and Photoshop

American Psychos, Home -

The home page is in black and white with images of where each murder committed some of their worst crimes. The eyes as the call to action image are there to make the viewer uneasy and nervous.

American Psychos, Ted Bundy -

Ted Bundy was a serial killer who terrorized the west of the united states for most of his life before being sentenced to death in Florida. I used the shapes of the states on the page as an interesting info. graphic for viewers and listed the names of the victims next to the state they lived in with their age.

American Psychos, Jeffrey Dahmer -

Jeffrey Dahmer is a serial killer who preyed after young boys and minorities. He was killed in prison by his cell mate after he murdered many victims in Michigan. I used large red dots on the maps to show he killed a majority of his victims in one area. The images are also made to look torn out of a scrap book or a newspaper to note its historic significance.

American Psychos, John W. Gacy -

John Wayne Gacy is a serial killer who also hunted near the great lakes. He was infamous for his hobby of being a party clown at young children’s parties and inspired many horror stories of killer clowns that scare most people. I also used a large red dot to show he killed only in Chicago. The spyglass shown in the pages for viewers to feel like a detective.

American Psychos, Charles Manson -

Charles Manson was a serial killer of serious crazy. He along with his cult members murdered Hollywood celebrities and justified it as a command from god. While designing the pages I wanted to make sure each victim was mentioned and did tons of research. I also wanted to use just names to respect the victims and their families and didn’t want to invade their privacy.

American Psychos, H. H. Holmes -

Herman Webster Mudgett, or better known as, Henry Howard Holmes, was what we believe was America’s first serial killer. Holmes was so dedicated to murder he built an entire hotel filled with secret rooms and booby traps for his victims. The color choices for each page an the website are all very monotone and creepy. I also wanted to leave the design very clean and not busy so viewers could focus and digest what they were reading.
